Academic Support and Enrichment (ASE)
Silver Strand Elementary ASE
At Silver Strand Elementary we offer a unique model and approach to learning that meets the academic needs of all our students.
Our Academic Support and Enrichment (ASE) Program allows all students to receive small-group instruction at their specific academic levels in reading. General education classroom teachers, in addition to additional ASE teachers, provide this coordinated small-group instruction based on standardized grade level pacing guides, benchmarks, assessments, and curricular materials. Our approach allows us to directly assist students who may need additional support meeting grade level expectations, as well as those who are ready to move beyond those expectations, resulting in an environment where all students are engaged, more willing to take risks, and develop close relationships with teachers while receiving increased individual attention.
This structure has proven to be particularly important and effective in working with our students who face transitions between schools due to military transfers. By assessing our new students after they enroll, we are able to identify and address academic needs and opportunties to challenge students with a variety of school experiences and backgrounds.
