"What I Want to be When I Grow Up" DayPosted by: SSES Registrar 5 years, 7 months ago
During “Character Counts Week” at Silver Strand Elementary, teachers present a number of lessons and activities in classrooms focusing on the “Six Pillars of Character”, particularly this month’s pillar of Trustworthiness. The week kicked off with our school’s annual “What I Want to be When I Grow Up” Day, during which presenters representing a large cross section of professions talk to students about the importance of good character and study habits in attaining their careers. Professions represented in this year’s event included law enforcement, military, nursing, flight attendant, aerospace engineer, writer/historian, human resources, physicist, and ex-professional football player/coach. With the overlap of Red Ribbon Week and its shared focus on character education, high school students from Becky Black’s “Friday Night Live” Club will also be making presentations in classrooms to their younger peers on the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.
