Students Honored for Achieving English Language FluencyPosted by: SSES Registrar 4 years, 3 months ago
Have you ever gone to a foreign country and wished you could learn to speak the language fluently? That is precisely what several students a year achieve at Silver Strand Elementary School! Every year our school receives several new students who come from other countries and who speak English as a second language.
As English Language Learners they receive specialized instruction within the classroom and in specialized groups to help them acquire fluency in English. Once they have achieved English fluency their success is celebrated with a special ceremony during a Friday Flagpole Ceremony. They are awarded a certificate of Fluent English Proficiency by John Cox, ELD teacher, Principal, Mr. Cass, and Claudia Gallant, Senior Director of Learning, and their picture is included on an English Learner Hall of Fame Bulletin Board.
This year we celebrate the success of Melody H., Emilia M., Alexa R. and Diego V. in achieving English language fluency and bilingualism with their primary language!
