Silver Strand's Garden ClubPosted by: SSES Registrar 6 years ago
Our school garden is buzzing with activity! The 4th and 5th grade garden club members, advised by Connie Johnson, Silver Strand’s garden expert, have enjoyed harvesting carrots, propagating succulents and transplanting seedlings that were grown in our greenhouse. Together the students have planted corn, tomatoes, fava beans, cilantro, lettuce, artichokes and swiss chard along with marigolds, daisies and sunflowers. Birds, butterflies and bees are frequent visitors to the garden. Once again, the Coronado Floral Association recognized Silver Strand’s beautiful garden as Coronado’s “Best School Garden”.
