Silver Strand PTO's Jog-a-Thon was a great success!Posted by: SSES Registrar 4 years, 7 months ago
On October 30th, all Silver Strand students participated in the PTO’s Jog-a-Thon and it was a great success! Students received financial pledges from family members and friends for running laps during their regularly scheduled PE period. Our PE staff led warm-up calisthenics, and then students ran along with teachers and parents. Our PTO board members and many parent volunteers helped make this event fun for our students with music, logging student laps, manning water stations, and squirting students with water as they ran by. After the run, students enjoyed cooling down with juice pops provided by our PTO. A huge inflatable arch that acted as a starting/finish line added to the fun...many thanks to School Liaison Officer, Amiee Gillig, and Naval Amphibious Base Coronado for arranging that donation!
All funds raised from the Jog-a-Thon will help ensure essential programs at Silver Strand Elementary continue and new needs of the school are met. This year, as funds are available, the approved PTO budget will provide the school with teacher grants, the ASE program, enrichment clubs, school assemblies, field trips, improved campus technology and much more.
We want to thank the PTO and all our wonderful volunteers for encouraging students throughout this event and supporting our school!
