"Silver Strand Honors Its Military Heroes" Event

This year’s annual “Silver Strand Honors Its Military Heroes” event took place on November 6th, in conjunction with our weekly Flagpole Ceremony.  The assembly began with a tribute to veterans and Silver Strand School’s many military families by our special guest, Captain Mulvehill, Executive Officer, Naval Base Coronado.  Our school’s Military Family Life Counselor explained several projects she has been working on with students in connection with the event.  These projects included an inspiring patriotic banner and inventions students created to help cope with the challenges that come with military life.  After the ceremony, military families were invited into Strand Hall to see these displays, enjoy breakfast snacks, and have their photographs taken.  The photos will create a border around the banner in our Military Connections Room which will be displayed throughout the school year.  Students in our Ambassador Club helped make the event run smoothly.  Many families and veterans were in attendance, and a memorable time was had by all!
