Food Webs and Barn Owl Lesson in Silver Strand's Science ClassPosted by: SSES Registrar 4 years, 4 months ago
“What is that?” exclaimed a Silver Strand fourth grader as she explored the pellet casted from the proventriculus of a Pacific Northwest barn owl in Mrs. Moy's science class. Silver Strand fourth graders got a firsthand look at one food chain as they dissected owl pellets to discover the process of energy transfer among species. Skulls with beaks intact, claws, a jaw bone with an entire set of teeth, and hip bones were a few of the discoveries students found. The delight of discovery was a joyous noise.
