*Please note:  If a club is offered to certain grades levels this session, it will most likely switch to accommodate other levels in the next session. Please refer to individual club flyers sent home or the Strand website for the program provider’s details and registration instructions. Some of these new after school clubs are provided & run by independent program providers, approved through Coronado Unified School District and are not supervised or operated by Silver Strand Elementary staff.  All registration activities and specific program questions should be directed to the independent program provider. Extra flyers can be found in front office or in Peachjar (via our school website).

There are several new & exciting before/after school clubs for Silver Strand students to join this spring! Please see below for specific club descriptions.

Most of these after school clubs are provided & run by independent program providers, approved through Coronado Unified School District and are not supervised or operated by Silver Strand Elementary staff.  All registration activities and specific program questions should be directed to the independent program provider or Karen Pierro at: kpierro@coronadousd.net. Finally, since this is our 1st year of providing “outside” clubs, please be patient & bear with us through the process😊

Namaste Today Yoga

The mission of Namaste Today is to provide a safe space for children in San Diego schools in

which they are able to breathe, bend, balance, and become focused. Classes held in the PE room. Go to: www.namastetodaysandiego.com to register.  (Click on: Register for a Program, Silver Strand) April 3rd – May 15th held on Tuesdays, 2:20 – 3:30 for K – 3rd grades this session, held in the PE room.

 

Danzart’s Hip-Hop Dance Club – NEW!

Danzart Academy has 10 years of experience making great dancers, musicians & actors! They will be doing our first ever Hip-Hop dance club for kids in grades 1st – 3rd, starting on April 10 – May 17th. Classes are Tues and Thurs from 2:20 – 3:30pm, with a short performance at the Luau AND a final performance for parents (TBD). Please see flyer and send payment for Danzart Academy to front office. Held in Strand Hall.

 

Quidditch Club

Straight from the pages of Harry Potter this sports club is a combination of team handball, dodge-ball and tag.  This is a non-contact version of the sport adapted from the official US Quidditch rules (usquidditch.org). Players compete to score points with a using speed, skill and most of all teamwork. Chasers work together to pass the quaffle (volleyball) through the goals to score points. Beaters use a bludger (foam ball) to neutralize opponents an impede their progress & the seekers chase after the ever-important golden snitch. 4th and 5th only, Mondays on April 16th – May 21st with Mr. Bachman on the back field.

Flag Football Club

Open to Grades 3-5th, the Flag Football club meets during lunch recess on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.  The club goal is for each team to play 7 friendly and competitive games each season. As we are jumping right into games, this club is recommended for students who have some experience with the sport.

 Mr. Bachman is organizing the Flag Football League- The schedule, team rosters and game information can be found on the PE bulletin board outside room 502. Students who sign up are expected to commit to an entire season (7 games), exhibit good sportsmanship and fair play on and off the field. Music Band

Band PhotoCUSD strongly desires to offer all students a comprehensive educational experience.  This is why we are excited to offer beginning band to our 4th & 5th grade students at Silver Strand Schools.  Students will be given the chance to select from learning to play a variety of musical instruments such as the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion instruments such as snare drums or orchestra bells.  Band instruction takes place before school and meets 2 days per week throughout the school year.

Running Club Running ClubRunning

Running Club offers our students the opportunity to build self-esteem, improve their health and experience their own personal power! Based on a non-competitive philosophy, the Running Club focuses on the completion of both personal and collaborate fitness goals.   While running/walking is the core activity, Running Club participants also gain discipline, dedication and the skills to set and achieve goals as well as making new friends and having FUN!!!
