Robotics Club Robotics Club

With assistance from NAVAIR aerospace engineers, 4th and 5th grade students on the Robotics Team learn how to build and program a robot to accomplish a series of tasks surrounding a theme, and the highlight of each year is participation in First Lego League of San Diego where over 40 schools in the county come together for a series of competitions.

Enrichment Clubs Enrichment ClubsEnrichment

Silver Strand offers a six-eight week session of free enrichment clubs during lunch recesses and after school each day of the week. Generally, 15-20 different club choices are offered for students to allow them to pursue a wide variety of passions outside the classroom. Examples of clubs we’ve offered in the past include science, art, garden, choir, drama, cooking, running, video-tech, debate, chess, young librarians, book, home economics, and stitchery. Students are guaranteed at least 1 of their top 3 choices, but often are able to participate in more than one offering.  Enrichment Clubs are very popular with our students and are made possible due to the generosity of our dedicated PTO!

Music Band

Band PhotoCUSD strongly desires to offer all students a comprehensive educational experience.  This is why we are excited to offer beginning band to our 4th & 5th grade students at Silver Strand Schools.  Students will be given the chance to select from learning to play a variety of musical instruments such as the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion instruments such as snare drums or orchestra bells.  Band instruction takes place before school and meets 2 days per week throughout the school year.

Running Club Running ClubRunning

Meets:  Every Wednesday

Times: Grades TK-3, 1:05-1:35pm & Grades 4-5, 1:40-2:10pm

The Running Club promotes fitness and healthy lifestyles in our students.  Our goal is to get as many children as possible RUNNING or WALKING on a regular basis.  This program benefits students by providing a non-competitive environment where all children are successful and support pride in accomplishment and life-long positive habits.  Laps are logged each week and each runner earns a foot charm for every mile completed.  Students are provided with a chain necklace to collect their feet charms and display their progress.

The Silver Strand Running Club is sponsored by the Silver Strand PTO.  A BIG thanks to our PTO for making this program possible for all our students!
