Silver Strand Elementary ASE

At Silver Strand Elementary we offer a unique model and approach to learning that meets the emotional and academic needs of all our students.

This structure, known as our Academic Support and Enrichment (ASE) Program, allows all students to receive small group instruction at their specific academic levels in reading, writing, and math. General education classroom teachers, in addition to additional ASE teachers, provide this coordinated small group instruction based on standardized grade level pacing guides, benchmarks, assessments and curricular materials. Our approach allows us to directly support students who may need additional support meeting grade level expectations, as well as those who are ready to move beyond those expectations, resulting in an environment where all students are engaged and on task, more willing to take risks, develop close relationships with teachers and receive increased individual attention. Our ASE Program results in an environment where all students are engaged and on task, more willing to take risks, develop close relationships with teachers, and receive increased individual attention.

This structure has proven to be particularly important and effective in working with the high mobility aspect of our military population. New students who come to Silver Strand often have instructional gaps in their learning due to differences in content, expectations or pacing at their previous school. We are able to identify and address those gaps and ensure that students immediately receive instruction for their precise needs. This approach has led to Silver Strand’s highest API in school history, 906, on its most recent statewide testing placing us in the top 10% of all schools in the state.
